Lara Jesani, Advocate, Bombay High Court I have been practicing law in Indian courts for over a decade and am currently an independent litigator with my primary practice based out of Bombay High Court and National Green Tribunal. I hold a masters in political science with my specialization in Indian politics and a masters in law (LLM) with my specialisation in criminal law.
I was formerly a Litigation Partner at M Mulla Associates until September 2017, and am since practicing independently based out of Mumbai. I take up cases of human rights violations, in particular constitutional, environmental, development, anti corruption and criminal matters, and in defence of human rights defenders.
I represent project affected communities and civil society organizations (CSOs) in matters pertaining to environmental concerns and violations, pollution, disasters, destructive infrastructure and development projects and displacement. I am also engaged in public policy and advocacy work on democratic rights and civil liberties issues, and in human rights and legal education.
I am part of People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL). I work with several community based groups and networks, and collaborate with CSOs, business and human rights initiatives and intersectional feminist collectives, on issue basis.
લારા જેસાની, એડવોકેટ, બોમ્બે હાઇકોર્ટહું છેલ્લા દાયકાથી વધુ સમયથી ભારતીય અદાલતોમાં કાયદાની પ્રેક્ટિસ કરી રહી છું અને હાલમાં સ્વતંત્ર લિટિગેટર તરીકે બોમ્બે હાઇકોર્ટ અને નેશનલ ગ્રીન ટ્રિબ્યુનલમાં મારી મુખ્ય પ્રેક્ટિસ છે. મેં રાજનીતિશાસ્ત્રમાં માસ્ટર્સ (ભારતીય રાજકારણમાં વિશેષતા) અને કાયદામાં માસ્ટર્સ (એલએલએમ, ક્રિમિનલ કાયદામાં વિશેષતા) પૂર્ણ કર્યા છે.
હું સપ્ટેમ્બર 2017 સુધી એમ મુલ્લા એસોસિએટ્સમાં લિટિગેશન પાર્ટનર હતી, ત્યારબાદ હું મુંબઈમાં સ્વતંત્ર રીતે પ્રેક્ટિસ કરી રહી છું. હું માનવ અધિકારના ઉલ્લંઘન સંબંધિત કેસો, ખાસ કરીને બંધારણીય, પર્યાવરણ, વિકાસ, ભ્રષ્ટાચાર વિરોધી અને ફોજદારી મુદ્દાઓ, તેમજ માનવ અધિકાર રક્ષકોના બચાવમાં કેસો હાથ ધરું છું.
હું પ્રોજેક્ટથી પ્રભાવિત સમુદાયો અને સિવિલ સોસાયટી ઓર્ગેનાઇઝેશન્સ (CSOs)નું પ્રતિનિધિત્વ કરું છું, ખાસ કરીને પર્યાવરણ સંબંધિત ચિંતાઓ અને ઉલ્લંઘનો, પ્રદૂષણ, આપત્તિઓ, વિનાશકારી ઇન્ફ્રાસ્ટ્રક્ચર અને વિકાસ પ્રોજેક્ટ્સ તથા સ્થળાંતર સંબંધિત મુદ્દાઓમાં. હું લોકશાહી અધિકારો અને નાગરિક સ્વાતંત્ર્ય મુદ્દાઓ પર જાહેર નીતિ અને એડવોકસી કાર્યમાં પણ સંકળાયેલી છું, તેમજ માનવ અધિકાર અને કાનૂની શિક્ષણમાં યોગદાન આપું છું.
હું પિપલ્સ યુનિયન ફોર સિવિલ લિબર્ટીઝ (PUCL)નો ભાગ છું. હું અનેક સમુદાય આધારિત જૂથો અને નેટવર્ક્સ સાથે કામ કરું છું, અને CSOs, બિઝનેસ અને હ્યુમન રાઇટ્સ પહેલો તથા intersectional feminist collectives સાથે મુદ્દા આધારિત સહકાર કરું છું.
