Is a renowned Director of three successful Gujarati plays Kasturba, Samudra Manthan and Akupar. She has also acted in films. She is a daughter of well-known theatre personality, Jashwantbhai Thakkar who nurtured an artistic bent of mind in her. She is founder of Jashwant Thakar Memorial Foundation and Drashti- a Development Centered for Media Group in Ahmedabad. She has mentored hundreds of young adults into theatre. She has directed street theatre on socially relevant issues. She was governing board member of Olakh- A Space for Women in Vadodara. Aditi Desai is a socially committed artist who channelizes her creative talent to build a society based on democratic values, social justice and gender equality.
She had acted a small part in the film Dhh directed by Manish Saini and the film recently won the National Award for the Best Gujarati Film. Aditi is an actor, director, documentary film maker and activist. Her plays talk a lot about women empowerment issues and over the last three decades, Aditi has carved a niche for herself in the world of theatre. She sees no conflict in essaying different roles with great ease. She feels happy that now the younger generation of actors and directors are telling stories with a difference.
