Mehul Surti

Mehul Surti is a celebrated music composer and singer from Surat, Gujarat, born on November 16, 1977. With deep roots in classical traditions—trained in the Kirana and Mewati gharanas—he brings a soulful depth to Gujarati music. His journey began at just 22, composing for the film Narmada Tara Vahi Jata Pani (1999), and since then, he’s become a defining voice in Gujarati cinema and theatre.

Surti’s compositions span acclaimed films like Kevi Rite Jaish, Vitamin She, Montu Ni Bittu, Short Circuit, and the National Award-winning Hellaro. His work on Hellaro earned him multiple accolades, including the Gujarati Iconic Film Award for Best Music Director and Best Background Score.

Beyond film, Mehul has composed background scores for numerous plays and adapted over 200 Gujarati poems into music, celebrating poets like Narmad, Umashankar Joshi, Mareez, and Saumya Joshi. His albums—Prem Shaurya Gujarat, Saatatya, and Narmad Dhara—reflect his commitment to cultural preservation and innovation.

Mehul Surti isn’t just a composer; he’s a curator of Gujarati emotion, rhythm, and identity. His music bridges generations, blending tradition with contemporary storytelling, and continues to inspire audiences across Gujarat and beyond.
