Kanu Bhai Suchak hails from Amreli, Gujarat, and holds anM.A. in Gujarati.
From his student days, he had a deep love for literature. He won awards in elocution competitions and secured second place in a college poetry competition, receiving the award from Shri Umashankar Joshi.
In 1957, as a student leader, he was praised by Vinoba Bhave during a public gathering in Jasdan village for his disciplined and well-organized arrangements during Vinoba Bhave’s foot march.
In 1964, he was honored by Gujarat’s Chief Minister, Shri Jivraj Mehta, for the best college infrastructure in Amreli, receiving a gold medal and certificate.
In 1974, he was elected as the president of Juhu Jaisi.
In 1989, he conceptualized the Kala gurjari organization and played a key role in its establishment. He served as its president for two years and continued to nurture it for over ten years alongside other presidents. He is credited with planning and organizing the major programs that continue in Kala gurjari today.
In 1991, he organized a Gujarat architectural tour and compiled reports and articles on architecture, which were published as"Sthapatya Gurjari."
In 1998, his first poetry collection, "Khoj," was published, followed by a second edition.
In 2004, his second poetry collection, "SurnoKalarav," was published.
Every Sunday, his column "Shilpa Samvad" was published in the Mumbai newspaper. This column ran for about three years, with nearly 150 articles, which were later compiled into a book titled "Shilpa Samipe." The book received an excellent response from critics and readers and won the first prize from the Gujarat Sahitya Academy.
His articles continue to be published in "Kumar,""Shabdasrushti," and "Navneet-Samarpan."
In 2000, he took charge as the president of "Sahitya Sansad, Santacruz," a literary organization founded by the great scholar Professor Ramprasad Bakshi, under the guidance of the esteemed Dhiruben Patel.Inspired by Dhiruben Patel, he initiated Thursday literary gatherings, which have been held regularly for 26 years. In these gatherings, a creator from any literary field presents their work, and the audience provides feedback.
He also founded "Sahitya Sansad, USA," which has been active for four years.
His constant companion and supporter is his wife, Dr.Sushila Suchak, who holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Sanskrit.
His research thesis focused on Mahakavi Ramchandra’s Prakaran Plays, and his essays on Subhashitas (classical Sanskrit aphorisms)were published in Mumbai Samachar.
