Sejal Dand is a prominent gender and development consultant based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She is a co-founder and current Secretary of ANANDI (Area Networking and Development Initiatives), a grassroots feminist organization that has been working since 1995 to empower rural women, especially from marginalized communities like tribals, Dalits, and de-notified tribes.
Her work spans decades of advocacy for women’s land rights, food security, and gender justice, particularly in rural Gujarat. She has also contributed to national-level policy discussions and research on food insecurity, unpaid care work, and women’s empowerment. Sejal has been involved with initiatives like Mahila Samakhya Gujarat and the Centre for Social Justice, and she plays a key role in networks such as MAKAAM (Mahila Kisan Adhikaar Manch), which supports women farmers across India
