It is an honor to speak about Jaybhikhkhu, a biography that reflects my deep engagement with literature and human values. Jaybhikhkhu was not only a writer but also a moral force whose voice shaped modern Gujarati thought. In writing this book, I wanted to go beyond the chronology of his life and capture the essence of his ideals — simplicity, truth, and social responsibility.
The narrative explores his struggles, his creative spirit, and his courage to stand by conscience. His writings were rooted in humanism, and I wished to bring that resonance alive for readers. Published by the Sahitya Akademi in English, the book also introduces his vision to a wider audience beyond Gujarat.
For me, Jaybhikhkhu is more than a biography; it is a dialogue between literature and life, reminding us that true writers are guardians of humanity and conscience.
જયભીખ્ખુ વિષે બોલવાનો અવસર મારા માટે ગૌરવની વાત છે. આ જીવનચરિત્ર માત્ર એક સાહિત્યિક કૃતિ નથી, પરંતુ માનવીય મૂલ્યોનું પ્રતિબિંબ છે. જયભીખ્ખુ માત્ર લેખક નહોતા, તેઓ આધુનિક ગુજરાતી વિચારધારાને આકાર આપનાર નૈતિક શક્તિ હતા. આ પુસ્તક લખતાં મેં તેમના જીવનપ્રવાસની ઘટનાઓથી આગળ જઈને તેમના મૂલ્યો — સાદગી, સત્ય અને સામાજિક જવાબદારી —ને ઉજાગર કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કર્યો.
આ વર્ણન તેમના સંઘર્ષો, સર્જનાત્મકતા અને અંતરાત્માને અનુસરવાની હિંમતને સ્પર્શે છે. તેમનું સાહિત્ય માનવતામાં ઊંડે પ્રસ્થાપિત હતું, અને તે ભાવ વાચકો સુધી પહોંચે તેવું મેં રજૂ કર્યું છે. દિલ્હી સાહિત્ય અકાદમી દ્વારા અંગ્રેજીમાં પ્રકાશિત આ કૃતિ ગુજરાત બહારના વાચકોને પણ તેમના વિચારો સાથે જોડાવાનો અવસર આપે છે.
મારા માટે જયભીખ્ખુ માત્ર જીવનચરિત્ર નથી; તે સાહિત્ય અને જીવન વચ્ચેનો સંવાદ છે, જે યાદ અપાવે છે કે સાચા લેખક માનવતા અને અંતરાત્માના રક્ષક હોય છે.
Ms. Sandhya Bhatt was born on 30 June 1964 in Nashik,Maharashtra.Her father, Shri Narayanprasad Bhatt, was a committed socialistthinker, and her mother, Smt. Pushpaben Bhatt, served as an English teacher ata high school in Surat.
She completed both her graduate and postgraduate studies inEnglish from Surat. In 1987, she began her academic career as a lecturer at theArts and Commerce College, Mandvi (District Surat), and in 1990, she joined theArts and Commerce College, Bardoli, where she has been serving with dedicationand distinction to this day.
Ms. Bhatt is a poet, literary critic, and biographer. Hernotable poetry collections include Sparsh Aakashno (2006), Shoonyama Aakaar(2017), and Samay To Thayo (Sonnet Collection, 2020). She has also contributedsignificant critical and analytical literary works, enriching contemporary Gujarati literature.
Among her most important creative contributions is thebiographical work “Jaybhikhkhu” (2021), published in English by the Delhi Sahitya Akademi, which stands as a remarkable literary achievement. Her biographical narrative “Hun Hato Tyare” (2019) has also received prestigious literary awards.Her poems, critiques, and literary observations are regularly published in numerous reputed journals and magazines.
Her creative and critical contributions have been widely recognized and honored by institutions such as the Gujarat Sahitya Parishad,Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, and several other literary and cultural organizations.
Currently, she serves as the Development Secretary of Gujarat Sahitya Parishad for the 2023–2026 term.
શ્રીમતી સંધ્યા ભટ્ટનો જન્મ 30 જૂન 1964ના રોજ નાશિક, મહારાષ્ટ્રમાં થયો હતો. તેમના પિતા, શ્રી નારાયણપ્રસાદ ભટ્ટ, પ્રતિબદ્ધ સામાજવાદી વિચારક હતા, અને તેમની માતા, શ્રીમતી પુષ્પાબેન ભટ્ટ, સુરતની એક હાઈસ્કૂલમાં અંગ્રેજી શિક્ષિકા તરીકે સેવા આપતા હતા.
તેમણે અંગ્રેજીમાં સ્નાતક અને સ્નાતકોત્તર અભ્યાસ સુરતમાં પૂર્ણ કર્યો. 1987માં તેમણે આર્ટ્સ એન્ડ કોમર્સ કોલેજ, માંડવી (જિલ્લો સુરત) ખાતે પ્રવક્તા તરીકે તેમની શૈક્ષણિક કારકિર્દીની શરૂઆત કરી, અને 1990માં તેઓ આર્ટ્સ એન્ડ કોમર્સ કોલેજ, બારડોલી સાથે જોડાયા, જ્યાં તેઓ આજ સુધી નિષ્ઠા અને પ્રતિષ્ઠા સાથે સેવા આપી રહ્યા છે.
શ્રીમતી ભટ્ટ કવિ, સાહિત્ય સમીક્ષક અને જીવનચરિત્રકાર છે. તેમના નોંધપાત્ર કાવ્યસંગ્રહોમાં સ્પર્શ આકાશનો (2006), શૂન્યમાં આકાર (2017), અને સમય તો થયો (સોનેટ સંગ્રહ, 2020)નો સમાવેશ થાય છે. તેમણે મહત્વપૂર્ણ સમીક્ષાત્મક અને વિશ્લેષણાત્મક સાહિત્યિક કૃતિઓ પણ આપી છે, જે આધુનિક ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યને સમૃદ્ધ બનાવે છે.
તેમના સૌથી મહત્વપૂર્ણ સર્જનાત્મક યોગદાનોમાં જીવનચરિત્રાત્મક કૃતિ જયભીખ્ખુ (2021)નો સમાવેશ થાય છે, જે અંગ્રેજીમાં દિલ્હી સાહિત્ય અકાદમી દ્વારા પ્રકાશિત થયું છે અને એક નોંધપાત્ર સાહિત્યિક સિદ્ધિ તરીકે ઉભરી આવ્યું છે. તેમનું જીવનચરિત્રાત્મક વર્ણન હું હતો ત્યારે (2019)ને પણ પ્રતિષ્ઠિત સાહિત્યિક પુરસ્કારો મળ્યા છે. તેમની કવિતાઓ, સમીક્ષાઓ અને સાહિત્યિક અવલોકનો નિયમિત રીતે અનેક પ્રતિષ્ઠિત સામયિકો અને મેગેઝિનોમાં પ્રકાશિત થાય છે.
તેમના સર્જનાત્મક અને સમીક્ષાત્મક યોગદાનોને ગુજરાત સાહિત્ય પરિષદ, ગુજરાત સાહિત્ય અકાદમી અને અન્ય અનેક સાહિત્યિક તથા સાંસ્કૃતિક સંસ્થાઓ દ્વારા વ્યાપક માન્યતા અને સન્માન મળ્યું છે.
હાલમાં, તેઓ ગુજરાત સાહિત્ય પરિષદના વિકાસ સચિવ તરીકે 2023–2026ની મુદત માટે સેવા આપી રહ્યા છે.
