Amrit Gangar is a Mumbai-based bilingual writer whohas written several books on cinema in Gujarati as well as English languages.His theory of Cinema of Prayoga has attracted a global attention. He haspresented it at the Pompidou Centre, Paris; the Lodz Film School, Poland; theDanish Film Institute, Copenhagen; Santiniketan, India and several othervenues. He has curated film programs for the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Kerala;the Kala Ghoda Artfest, Mumbai; the Mumbai International Festival forDocumentary, Short & Animation Films; the Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival,New Delhi; Musee des ArtsAsiatiques, Nice, France; Gallery Espace Croise, Roubaix, France, etc.. He has also beenthe Consultant Curator and the Content Developer of the National Museum ofIndian Cinema, Mumbai. He has been awarded by the Indian Navy for rescuing therare film India’s Struggle for National Shipping. He had been a visitingfaculty at several academic institutions in India and abroad.  

અમૃત ગંગર મુંબઈસ્થિત દ્વિભાષી લેખક છે, જેમણે ગુજરાતી તેમજ અંગ્રેજી ભાષામાં સિનેમા વિષયક અનેક પુસ્તકો લખ્યા છે. તેમની "Cinema of Prayoga" નામની સિદ્ધાંતને વૈશ્વિક સ્તરે વિશેષ માન્યતા મળી છે. તેમણે આ સિદ્ધાંત પેરિસના પોમ્પિડૂ સેન્ટર,પોલેન્ડની લોડ્ઝ ફિલ્મ સ્કૂલ,કોપેનહેગનના ડેનિશ ફિલ્મ ઇન્સ્ટિટ્યૂટ,શાંતિનિકેતન (ભારત) તથા અન્ય અનેક સ્થળોએ રજૂ કર્યો છે.

તેમણે કોચી-મુઝિરિસ બાયેનાલે (કેરળ),કલા ઘોડા આર્ટફેસ્ટ (મુંબઈ),મુંબઈ આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય ડોક્યુમેન્ટરી, શોર્ટ અને એનિમેશન ફિલ્મ ફેસ્ટિવલ,ઓસિયન્સ સિનેફેન ફિલ્મ ફેસ્ટિવલ (નવી દિલ્હી),મ્યુઝે દેસ આર્ટ્સ એશિયાટિક્સ (નીસ, ફ્રાન્સ),ગેલેરી એસ્પેસ ક્રોઇઝ (રૂબે,ફ્રાન્સ) વગેરે માટે ફિલ્મ કાર્યક્રમો ક્યુરેટ કર્યા છે.

તેઓ મુંબઈ સ્થિત National Museum ofIndian Cinema માટે કન્સલ્ટન્ટ ક્યુરેટર અને કન્ટેન્ટ ડેવલપર તરીકે પણ કાર્યરત રહ્યા છે. ભારતીય નૌકાદળ દ્વારા તેમને દુર્લભ ફિલ્મ India’s Struggle for NationalShipping બચાવવા બદલ પુરસ્કૃત કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા.

તેઓ ભારત તથા વિદેશની અનેક શૈક્ષણિક સંસ્થાઓમાં વિઝિટિંગ ફેકલ્ટી તરીકે પણ જોડાયા હતા.
